The ultimate Wedding Hair style guide

I’m so glad you have visited this page, because I am going to explain here all the different wedding styles you can choose from when booking me as your stylist and why I love each one. I always get asked the two following questions “which is your favourite style to do?” And “what is the most popular hairstyle?” So i thought I would answer these questions below!

updo Styles

This is definitely my most requested style at wedding mornings and I love this! Updo styles can be done in so many different ways, I aim to make everyone’s up-do slightly different so it’s personal to them. I love romantic styles with soft pieces draping down and these can be styled low, mid height or high. My favourite style for a bridal updo is a classic low bun and I love a mid-height or high for a bridesmaid but this is all personal preference and dependant upon the dress of course! I think it’s good to think about the placement you would like before your trial but if you’re unsure we could always try two different placements of the bun. In the images I have highlighted the three different placements of where the bun can sit.

A high updo is perfect for those who like to see their hair from the front and like more volume to their hair. Clip in extensions can also be applied to any of these styles without the worry of seeing them, I apply them in a way they cannot be seen and sit comfortably. Veils can be placed either above or below the bun and a perfect accessory for this style is bridal pins.

Half up, Half Down Styles

Half up half down- these are a popular style for those who love their hair down, but also want a little bit of extra something. Half up half down styles are so versatile and can be done in many ways to achieve a desired look. These are a lovely bride or bridesmaid style and are great for those who feel more like themselves with their hair down. A plait or twisted detail is usually my go-to. A perfect accessory to complement this look is something on a pin- as seen in the images. Clip in extensions are great addition to thicken up the ends and make it picture perfect.

Hollywood wave StyleS

This is a classic style that I love to create, it’s modern yet timeless. It can be created so it is completely fixed in place, or it can be more movable. It is recommended for only a bridal style as to is a longer, more time-consuming style and therefore would recommend another style for bridesmaids. I definitely recommend clip in extensions for this style to create more volume and thickness, and the hair extensions act as a scaffold for the natural hair to sit on and hold the curl. The classic hollywood waves is a side parting with a lifted fringe however these can also be done in many different ways to achieve your desired look. I would pair this look with a statement earring.

Ponytail Styles

Recently, bridal ponytails have become more popular and I love the modern look. There are different ways to create these styles they can be sleek, curly, low or high. Different curling techniques can be used to completely change the look of the style, it can be a hollywood wave, classic curls or a blow out curl. Low ponytails are a perfect bridesmaid style while a mid-height or high ponytail is more of a statement bridal style. A perfect accessory for a ponytail is pearl pins.

curly hair girls

Curly hair girls can have any style in the style guide, I will just use their natural texture to create the style. I add hydrating products while styling the hair to tame any flyaways and frizz. With permission from the client, I may use a small curling wand to enhance some of the curls that are falling a little bit straighter. I ask that if wanting to wear your natural curls you come to me with hair prepped how you normally wear it and dry ready for styling. If you’re not wanting your natural curls I kindly ask that you sit in the chair with straight hair ready for styling.
